  • Captured All-State honors in 2 sports as a senior.
  • Named a co-captain as a two-way starter for Coach John Kalbacher’s 1970 Holy Cross football team
  • Named the #9 ranked football player on the NO States-Item 1970 Coaches Top 20 Football Players in the city
  • Named the Most Valuable field performer at 3 track and field meets as a senior
  • Won the Louisiana High School State Championship in the shot put event as a senior
  • Using his southpaw technique Ferrer set a school record throw of 58 feet 3-3/4  inches which still stands today.
  • Continued his football career at LSU where he started on the defensive line as a soph. before switching to offensive line as a junior
  • Steve and his wife Suzanne have been married 40 years. They reside in Lake Charles. They have two children – John Beck Ferrer & Elizabeth Ferrer Abdalla and five grandchildren.
