Chuck Knowles was a three-year letterman in both football and baseball. He was named the District’s Outstanding player in 1968 and named to the All-District team on offense and defense. He was also selected as the state’s most outstanding lineman in 1968. Additionally, he was named All-City in football, and a Scholastic America All-American. As a star for the Tigers on the baseball diamond, Knowles was the winning pitcher on the baseball state championship team in 1969, finishing the season with a perfect 8-0 record on the mound. Knowles was named to the All-State baseball team and was the All-City MVP. He was also a team captain in both football and baseball.  Knowles would leave Holy Cross, and head to Lafayette to play football and baseball for USL.
