Chris Thompson was a three-year letterman in football and track. He was named All-District in 1999. Mr. Thompson became a two-time All-American at Nicholls State, and a three-time First Team All-Southland selection. He holds the Nicholls State single-game interception record, picking off three passes in a win over Arkansas State in 2001. Following his career at Nicholls, Thompson went on to be drafted in the fifth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2004 NFL Draft. He added stints with the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills before going on to play eight years in the Canadian Football League. Thompson started his CFL career with the Edmonton Eskimos and also played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes. He was selected as an All-Star twice in his career, including in 2008 when he led the league with nine interceptions. That season, he was named Hamilton's Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Thompson is currently the secondary coach at Nicholls State.
