Albert Hanzo, Football/Basketball/Track, Class of 1947
  • Was a three-sport standout for the Tigers earning multiple letters in Football, Basketball and Track
  • Was part of state championship teams in all 3 sports (1945 football, 1945 Basketball, 1947 Track & Field)
  • Was an All-Prep running back in 1945 & 1946 for Coach Lou Brownson. He also earned the Lou Brownson Award for Best Pass Defender in 1945.
  • As Co-Captain of the 1946 squad he led the team with 8 TD and 2 extra-points to an 8-1 record.
  • Earned 3 letters in basketball and was co-captain his senior season in 1947
  • He earned 3 letters in track and threw the discus and javelin on the 1947 state championship track and field team
  • Awarded the Parent’s Club Trophy for Best all-around athlete in 1947.
  • Hanzo went on to be named Holy Cross Man of the Year in 1998
  • Al and his wife Gerry had four daughters – Wanda, Pam, Karen, and Laura. He had five grandchildren, Ross Jolet, Justin Jolet (’06), Rachel Clement, Gavin Martin (’14) and Julia Hanzo.
He passed away in 2005 at the age of 76
