Robert “Bob” Borison demonstrated his exceptional athletic prowess as a four-year letterman on the track team, ultimately leading as captain during his senior year. Bob's dedication and skill extended to his time on the record-breaking mile relay teams during both his junior and senior years, further cementing his legacy as an accomplished athlete.

As a three-year letterman in football, Bob's impressive abilities did not go unnoticed. He was named States-Item All Catholic in his junior and senior years and was selected for LSWA All-Star and All-State teams, as well as the Class Triple A's 1963 All-State End. His achievements continued to garner national attention, as Bob was honored with an Orlando Sentinel All-Southern Prep selection, and the New York AP All-American recognition.
As a state champion standout on the 1963 Holy Cross football team, he was named one of only two players in the state of Louisiana to the Scholastic Magazine All-American High School Football Team along with Lafayette’s Maurice LeBlanc.

Moreover, he was awarded the Catholic Prep All-American Lineman of the Year by the New World, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Chicago. As a testament to his incredible impact on the field, Bob was named to the Composite Coaches' New Orleans All-Time All-Prep Team, a selection spanning from 1950 through 1964. As a member of the 1963 State Championship Team, Bob Borison's extraordinary achievements at Holy Cross High School undoubtedly make him a deserving candidate for the Holy Cross Sports Hall of Fame.

In his freshman year, he broke school records in both shot put and discus, showcasing his immense talent from the very beginning.
Borison burst on the scene as a freshman for Coach Tommy Warner’s fresh-sophomore track team. His shot put toss of 43 feet, 10 inches obliterated the old record by 8 inches at the Catholic District Frosh-Sophomore Track Meet in April of 1961.

In the fall of ‘61 Borison helped propel the Tigers to an upset 19-0 victory over the No. 1-ranked LaGrange Gators in Lake Charles to open the season. Borison hauled in two touchdown passes from quarterback Mac Brousseau, who completed 6 of 9 passes in the game for 3 TDs.

Borison and Brousseau scored more heroics later that season when the combination connected for the game-winning touchdown in a 12-7 Holy Cross victory over Redemptorist on the game’s last play.  With two seconds left on the clock from the Rams’ 7-yard line Brousseau rolled to his left and tossed it in the back of the end zone.

Per the Times Picayune -- “The ball was deflected by a Rams player and Borison leaped high into the air to clutch it just inside the end zone boundary.”
Borison signed a grant in aid scholarship with LSU following his senior year.

Following his exceptional high school career and college education, Bob embarked on a remarkable journey, working on oil rigs around Malaysia. Over the years, his dedication and expertise led him to a promotion as a safety inspector. Bob utilized this invaluable experience to launch a successful safety management business, and he quickly became the premier expert witness on the Gulf Coast for maritime injury cases. As his son, I am truly inspired by my father's unwavering drive and ambition to establish his own business. Through his hard work and determination, he was able to provide me with the opportunity to attend Holy Cross, where I received an exceptional education. As Bob approaches his 80th birthday, he continues to operate his business with enthusiasm and passion, not out of necessity, but because he genuinely loves what he does and excels at it. Bob Borison's achievements, both as an extraordinary athlete at Holy Cross High School and as a successful entrepreneur in the maritime safety industry, serve as a testament to his remarkable character and dedication. His journey is an inspiration to us all, and his legacy is truly deserving of a place in the Holy Cross Sports Hall of Fame.
