Richard Kelt was a three-year letterman in basketball, baseball, and track, and a two-year letterman in football.  In basketball, he earned All-State, All-City and All-District honors in 1957. He was also named All-District in both 1956 and 1957 in basketball, baseball and track.  He still holds the Holy Cross single-game scoring record of 50 points. Kelt was selected to the first ever WDSU-TV All-City Basketball team in 1957, and he was named the Times-Picayune Athlete of the Year in 1956. In track, he won the city high jump championship. Off the basketball court and playing fields, Kelt was vice-president of the National Honor Society. He earned a full scholarship to Loyola to play basketball, baseball and track.
