Bill Wilcox, Football/Track, Class of 1973

Captured two state individual titles in the Javelin as a junior and senior with record setting throws
Captain of the 1973 track team where he qualified for state in both the javelin and the shot put
Recorded top marks for Javelin throw in the country in both his junior and senior prep seasons as documented by the National Federation of State High School Associations
Went into the 1972 football season as the No. 1 ranked TE in the state before injuring his knee in the jamboree and missing the entire season
Was first team All-District & All-City as a junior for Coach John Kalbacher
Graduating Magna-Cum Laude, Wilcox attended Tulane University where he played football and track
Set a Tulane Javelin record in 1974 with a toss of 71.53 meters; a record that stood in Tulane history until 2000.
Passed away in 2012.
