MARRERO- The Holy Cross football team dropped their first district game of the season, 27-13, Friday night at Joe Zimmerman Stadium, falling to 1-1 on the season.
Archbishop Shaw struck first on the opening kickoff of the contest, taking it back 90-yards for a touchdown.
The Eagles extended their lead to 14 with 1:04 remaining in the first quarter. Shaw held that lead going into the break.
Holy Cross drove down the field on their first drive of the second half and found the endzone thanks to a 7-yard carry by Eli Lafrance.
Shaw scored their third touchdown of the night with 6:53 remaining in the third quarter and their final touchdown with just three minutes to go in the third.
Koby Young scored the Tigers' final touchdown of the night by picking up a punt while the Eagle defenders were caught looking and took it home for a 70-yard touchdown.

"We have a lot to learn offensively and defensively," said head coach Nick Saltaformaggio." "This isn't the end; we're going to pick ourselves back up and get to work. We will get better individually and tougher as a team and Holy Cross men."
UP NEXT
Holy Cross will return to action next Friday on October 1 for the 102nd meeting between Holy Cross and Jesuit. The kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m.
