Holy Cross Athletics Weekend Preview - January 14-15

It's a jam-packed weekend as five Holy Cross School teams are in action. Basketball and soccer are at home, while wrestling, track & field, and powerlifting look to make noise on the road.

Powerlifting at Convington Lion Invitational (Saturday, 8 a.m.)
The powerlifting team will open its season at the Lion Invitational hosted at Covington High School.

Wrestling at Louisiana Classic Day 1 (Friday, Noon)
Wrestling at Louisiana Classic Day 2 (Saturday, 9 a.m.)

Wrestling will compete in the Louisiana Classic on Friday, January 14. The Semifinal rounds will begin Saturday morning, with the finals to follow Saturday evening.

Soccer vs. St. Paul's Wolves (Saturday, 5 p.m.)
The Tigers capped off the EIL Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Caddo Magnet on Saturday, January 8. After postponing Wednesday's district opener, Holy Cross (13-5-1) looks to get some time on the pitch as they host the Wolves.

Basketball at Brother Martin Crusaders (Friday, 7 p.m.)
Basketball vs. John Curtis Patriots (Saturday, 7 p.m.)

Holy Cross looks to build off of yesterday's 45-37 win over Archbishop Rummel. The Tigers trailed the first to periods before rallying and earning the win. HC will hit the road on Friday, January 14 to face Brother Martin in their second district matchup at 7 p.m., before hosting the Patriots on Saturday.

Track & Field at Carl Lewis Invitational Day 1 (Friday, 6:30 p.m.)
Track & Field at Carl Lewis Invitational Day 2 (Saturday, 10:30 a.m.)
The Sprinters are traveling to Houston, Texas to compete in the Carl Lewis Invitational. The two-day meet will begin on Friday as the Tigers race in the open 200m. On Saturday, HC will start the day with prelims of the 60m dash followed by the 4x200m relay.
