Holy Cross Falls 52-41 To Brother Martin

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Holy Cross basketball team was within seven of Brother Martin in the final minutes, but the Crusaders held on to defeat the Tigers, 52-41, Thursday evening. 

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED

  • Sophomore Cole White opened up the scoring off of a quick dish from Freshman Justin Littleton that sparked a 6-0 run before Brother Martin scored their first basket of the night with 6:04 remaining in the first period. The Crusaders rallied to tie it at 10 to close the first period. 
  • BM opened the second period with a three-pointer to gain their first lead of the night. The Crusaders extended their lead to 21-14 before calling a timeout with 3:06 remaining on the first half. 
  • Sophomore Devin Harris knocked down a three-pointer at the first-half buzzer to cut the Crusaders' lead to just one point. The Tigers trailed 24-23 going into the break. 
  • After trading blows for much of the third period, Brother Martin held a seven-point advantage and led 38-31 heading into the final period. 
  • The Crusaders went on a 6-0 run and forced a timeout from the Tigers after extending their lead to 48-36. 
  • Harris scored five straight points to cut the deficit to seven points, while the Crusaders led 48-41 with 1:42 to go and used a timeout. Harris and the Tigers' efforts were valiant but weren't enough as BM went on to win 52-41.
