Holy Cross Football bested by Rummel, 56-33

Thibodaux - The Holy Cross Football (1-3) team fell to the Archbishop Rummel Raiders (4-1), 56-33, Saturday afternoon at John L. Guidry Stadium on the campus of Nicholls State University.

"We have to get better at the little things," said head coach Nick Saltaformaggio. "We can't get better at the big things until we get better at the little things. Anything worth gaining in life is worth fighting for. We have to fight the next three weeks like we've never fought before." 

Notables

  • John Dade Wooton opened up the scoring for the Tigers with a 54-yard short slant to Jalen Johnson to give Holy Cross their first touchdown of the day.
  • Jaden Handy scored the second touchdown for the Tigers, rushing for a 7-yard TD to tie the game 14-14. 
  • Johnson 45-yard kick return with 10:42 remaining in 2nd quarter. 
  • Johnson scored his second touchdown of the game with 12 seconds remaining in the first half. 
  • At halftime, Jalen Johnson totaled six receptions for 184 yards & two TD's.
  • Jaden Handy tallied his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard TD with 2:46 left in the 3rd quarter. 
  • Ian Silva secured his first touchdown of the season off of a 7-yard reception. 
  • Wooten finished the game with three TD's, while Johnson and Handy finished with two touchdowns a piece.
